Portland Yacht Club
Details

Portland Yacht Club is located on the beautiful foreshore in historic Portland. As being located in Victoria's second oldest town there  is a strong maritime and sailing history linked with Portland Yacht Club.  The turbulent weather and strong oceans of the south west coast produce strong sailors as is evident in Portland Yacht Club's many successful ocean racers and Australian Championship holders.

Our club is well known for it's welcoming and friendly attitude toward all sailors from beginners to those more experienced. We strive to build confidence, independence and excellence while also encouraging participation, community spirit and respect.

We are proud of our family-friendly atmosphere as we see that young people are the future of sailing. We have great facilities and programs in place to cater for all members of the family and to increase knowledge and skills. A specific course for women of all levels is also a popular program. Portland Yacht Club patrons are able to sail inside a safe harbour as well as accessing ocean sailing in and around Portland Bay.

For many people who love to be on the water but are not interested in sailing,  there are many options for areas in which they can assist such as rescue boat operators. Portland Yacht Club encourages these people to make contact as their presence is a welcome addition to the club.

For members of the Cruising Sailing Community Portland offers a safe, attractive deep sea port as a stop-over, or for those who decide to make Portland their home port.

The Portland Yacht Club welcomes you to join us.

The Portland South West Junior Saiing Project

Portland Yacht Club has an exciting goal to set up 'The Portland South West Junior Sailing Project' to introduce sailing to primary school aged children across our region. Please click on the donate button for a full outline of the project.

All donations made to this project through the Australian Sports Foundation may be claimed as a tax deduction for those donations of $2 or more.

The Australian Sports Foundation was established by the Federal Government in 1986 with the mission to raise money for Australian Sport.

In 2016 the Australian Sports Foundation became an independent organisation, through which clubs and organisations can raise funds for projects and programs that will develop their sport, increase participation, fund team travel and facilities, fund high performance and create pathways.
